How to decide on your treatment plan...

We are seeing more and more people wanting to turn to Peer Support to TELL them which way to go on surgery, chemo and radiation, or natural healing. Truth is, it's not what Support groups are built for. We can offer you our experiences, the good, bad and ugly truth about what each one of us has personally gone through, and why we made the decisions we made for ourselves, but it's not up to us to decide for you, below might help you to understand why.

It is the hardest thing watching people struggle looking for a direction to follow, Truth is, cancer is a sh*tty deal, it's not easy, Treatments are not easy, and the treatment schedule can be exhausting. It's a process. It's day in day out - getting used to a new "cancer" language, learning how to read the reports they give you and what they mean, and what this whole "treatment plan" stuff is all about.

At the end of the day, YOU, THE CLIENT/PATIENT are the only one who can make the decision that best allows you to sleep at night, that sits well with you, that works with your personal belief system. Whether a medical model, a naturopathic, or a wait-and-see approach, if YOUR CHOICE is what makes you feel best, listen to your inner self. (Be aware that with the medical approach, there are timelines that have to be worked within to ensure best chance of success), I have found that if I think outside of myself - "If this were to happen to my family member, how would I want them to proceed if I were the one to have to make their decision for them?" It helps reflect my feelings about the issue, I find that clarity and my truth is somewhere in there. Feeling pressure to decide? You bet ya! Can anyone but YOU decide this? Nope.
