So what’s on your bucket list??? For the members that were at tonight’s meeting: travel, travel, travel…featured. Luxurious local and/or exotic destination vacations and reuniting with childhood friends has already happened for some, and are on the list for others. Revisiting those places that you were sexy with your partner, including the back seat of your car…bringing back the PICANTE, the SPICY, the so, so HOT times!
We discussed anxiety attacks, how it can physically affect you and how the easiest thing to remember to do is to BREATHE. Sometimes we are so caught up in the moment of a situation that we automatically hold our breaths. Simple, and very effective if finding yourself feeling anxious or stressed is just to concentrate on your breath. Here’s an easy how to:
Breathe in - listen to your breath on inhaling. Hold your breath for a count of several seconds, slowly breathe out - listen to the sound of exhaling. Repeat until you feel the anxiety or stress is reduced. Wellspring.ca is a great resource for learning – check out the Relaxation and Visualization classes for stress reduction.
Fear of recurrence of cancer was brought up; different solutions including breathing through stress, taking coping classes/healing journey classes were suggested. This would be a great round table discussion at our next few meetings, bring us what you do to get past your fear of recurrence.
Have you had chemo? Are you on hormone or gene therapy? How are you coping? We welcome your experiences, discussions about side effects and brain fog. Bringing forward to our next meeting.
Knitted Knockers – for those who are in the need of a prosthetic breast form, these were suggested as a lighter alternative, available free of charge. Website is below:

There seems to be an overwhelming opinion that mastectomy bras are unsightly, too plain and not available in the sexy styles that were available to women pre-mastectomy/lumpectomy. Is there a company out there that can put the sexy back into bras and lingerie for the post-mastectomy/lumpectomy woman? Bustier style strapless bras? Lacy? Embroidered? Anyone out there who has suggestions/advice/ideas?
We also talked about beanbag style prosthesis – “been – a – boob” is one maker of such a prosthetic. Interesting article when the creator appeared on Dragon’s Den:

We discussed fear of the unknown, how it affects us, and how we can count on the WOWS! Community to support one another through good and difficult times in our safe and confidential WOWS! meetings.
